About DRO

Features of Deakin Research Online

Deakin Research Online (DRO) stores, manages, preserves and makes available digital research material produced by, or to support Deakin University researchers.

It is harvested by Australian Research Online as well as web search engines such as Google.

Deakin Research Online provides access to a wide range of material produced by Deakin University researchers.

DRO is an open access repository. Subject only to copyright, license and other contractual or legal obligations, it will provide free access via the internet, without permission barriers, to the material it holds.

(For a fuller explanation of open access see Understanding open access in the academic environment.)

What is included

In 2008, Deakin Research Online was ‘seeded’ with records collected by the University’s Research Services Division describing research material published between 2001 – 2007. More records will be added to cover material published in 2008 during 2009, as well as new research from 2009 onwards.

Records are made visible after editing by Library staff to ensure completeness, augmented where possible by abstracts and keywords and linked to the published version. Records also have research material attached, as researchers provide it and publishers allow.

From 2009, Researchers or Faculty Research Support staff are asked to describe and deposit all research outputs as they are accepted for publication.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
