“The Half-Way House”

HAVE YOU REALIZED how much the enjoyment of a voyage between Australia and Europe might be enhanced by a visit to some of India’s wonderful sights? Many travellers miss the opportunity, which may so easily be taken, of breaking the long voyage in this way. Yet India is really a most convenient “ half-way house and no country in the world offers more diversity of interests than this land of glittering temples and palaces, gorgeous pageantry, age-old customs and picturesque medley of peoples.

The cool season, extending from early November to the end of March, is the best time for a visit to India. You may leave your steamer at Colombo or Bombay, spend as little as a week, or as much time as you like, in India, and continue your voyage from either port. In the following pages we give a selection of tours planned to iit in with the arrival and departure of steamers at Colombo and Bombay. The tours fall into four categories—(1) from Colombo back to Colombo; (2) from Colombo to Bombay; (3) from Bombay back to Bombay; (4) from Bombay to Colombo.

On these tours you travel with complete independence, and they may be modified or altered in any way to suit your own personal wishes. Or we can arrange an entirely different tour for you. We need only add that travel on the Indian Railways is extremely comfortable, and with our long and intimate experience of local conditions, together with the organization maintained by our Offices in India, we are able to show you the most interesting things in the most interesting way.

INCLUSIVE CHARGES

The charges quoted for the following tours are inclusive of all necessary expenses. They provide the following;—
