New NTRO templates available October 14 2019

New templates to describe Non Traditional Research Outputs (NTROs) will be available from Monday, October 14.

There are three new templates:

- NTRO portfolio

- NTRO (non-textual) – used to describe Artworks; Audio publications; Conference, Exhibition or Events; Moving images; Performances; and Photographs

- NTRO (textual) – used to describe Reports, and Creative writing (including Poems, Short stories, and other creative pieces)

The templates have been designed to record information in support of ERA and WAM, and replace the individual, format-specific templates currently in use. The new templates also feature Help links to NTRO-specific pages that have been created on the Publications wiki.

New Unpaywall link in DRO http://dro.deakin.edu.au/news.php#101

The chances of finding Openly Accessible publications has been improved with the addition of Unpaywall links in selected DRO records.

How does it work?
Whenever you pull up a full record display in DRO, Unpaywall will check to see if an open access version is available. If it is, an Unpaywall badge will appear at the bottom of the DRO record - see for example this record.

What is open access?
Open access is a publishing movement aimed at making publicly funded research freely available for the public to read, no longer behind paywalls or library subscriptions.

Open access may increase exposure for your work and result in higher citation rates, and allows the public, practitioners, and policy makers to access your research.

More information on OA is available via the Library website.

New Indigenous Content search feature http://dro.deakin.edu.au/news.php#100

A new tag has been added to publications that feature content about Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Now, you can easily locate publications in this category by entering search terms then selecting the 'Indigenous content' check box on either the DRO home page, or on the Advanced Search menu.

Alternatively, you can find ALL publications with the tag by simply checking the box and selecting Search (or press the Enter key).

The tag has been added retrospectively via a semi automated process. If you are a researcher and have found that your publication doesn't feature the tag (but should), or conversely shouldn't feature the tag, please contact DRO.

The ORCID IDs are active links, which go to your ORCID profile.

Don't have an ORCID?
Visit Deakin University Library's ORCID website to find out more about the benefits of obtaining an ORCID ID and how to obtain one.

Automatically assigned FoRs http://dro.deakin.edu.au/news.php#87

Elements now has a new feature - the automatic assignment of Field of Research (FoR) codes for some publications.

This new feature will make workflows more efficient, and mean that publications are viewable in DRO and Find a Researcher more quickly.

To find out more, check out the new Help page.
