Summary In this paper, we have demonstrated how the existing programming environments, tools and middleware could be used for the study of execution performance of parallel and sequential applications on a non-dedicated cluster. A set of parallel and sequential benchmark applications selected for and used in the experiments were characterized, and experiment requirements shown.
