Summary In this paper, advance of wetting behavior research on the superhydrophobic surface with micro- and nano-structures is reviewed, including fabrication methods of superhydrophobic surfaces with micro- and nano-structures, influence of the micro- and nano-structures on wetting behavior, superhydrophobic criterions of surfaces with periodic structures, contact angle hysteresis and functionalization of superhydrophobic surfaces. Problems existed in this research field and possible prospects of superhydrophobic surface with micro- and nano-structures are discussed.
