Summary The development and application of a novel combination of electrochemical techniques and computerized field-based battery-operated instrumentation is investigated. Low-power complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology has been utilized for the development of the field data acquisition systems and the instrumental performance of the complete analytical system is critically evaluated.
