Summary This thesis links the environmental crisis with a contemporary sense of meaninglessness, which the philosopher Martin Heidegger interprets in terms of unrecognised ontological homelessness. Within his work it discerns a transitory and transformative pathway of thinking that reveals an enduring, thoughtful and holistic self-understanding and enables an authentically human response.
