Summary The thesis investigated the fatigue behaviour of modern automotive steels, which are stronger and more ductile than traditional steels. The failure mechanisms of these steels under fatigue were identified, enabling researchers to further improve the material properties, which will ultimately lead to a reduction in overall vehicle mass.
