Summary This paper analyses the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC’s) digital children’s channel in the context of Australia’s transition to digital television. It argues that argument that—in competition to the subscription television children’s channels—the advent of ABC3 succeeded in revaluing Australian children’s content in the market and ensuring a distribution channel for new, local production.
