Summary A new system for delivering agrichemicals to crop plants was investigated. Nano-structured lipid particles were used as an alternative to traditional surfactants for penetrating plant surfaces. In laboratory and field trials the nanoparticles delivered chemicals effectively, caused less damage to plants, required less water and resulted in lower environmental impacts.
