Summary  This thesis explored supported decision-making for people with severe or profound intellectual disability. The findings provide guidance to supporters and policy makers to assist people with severe or profound intellectual disability to lead maximally autonomous lives, a clear obligation of Australia under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
