Summary This thesis focused on exploring women’s experiences pre- and post birth using a longitudinal design. A comprehensive trajectory of distress levels was attained (by assessing symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress), and the unique role of coping and cognitive appraisal strategies were also investigated.
