Summary The aqueous corrosion resistance of Fe-8Cr-6Al alloys with controlled additions of copper, nickel and titanium has been investigated. Both copper and nickel acted to reduce the height of the active peak of the anodic polarization curve. By an addition of 0. 5% of either of these elements the corrosion current density in the active region was reduced to lower values than that obtained for Type 409 (12Cr-0. 5Ti) stainless steel, with copper additions giving a greater effect. Higher additions resulted in further reductions.
