Summary This thesis investigated whether the stereotypes that the general public held of environmentalists contributed to both their willingness to identify as one and their subsequent engagement in green consumerism. Findings confirmed that this was the case, indicating that perceptions of environmentalists must be considered when creating pro-environmental behaviour interventions.
