Vision 2 develops and tests a collaborative model with a diverse level of stakeholders towards redefining and revitilizing central Geelong. The project is a formal (MoU) collaboration between the City of Greater Geelong (CoGG), Deakin University, Committee for Geelong (CFG) and the Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD), to develop the new vision. A series of modules and outputs were explored and investigated to facilitate the substantial cross-discipline engagement across the different levels of stakeholders. Deakin University staff were in positions of director and leadership roles to organize and facilitate aspects of the project. The project was commissioned by Committee for Geelong and funded by Department of Planning and Community Development.Stakeholder engagement was consolidated through the Vision 2 Workshop 2 event that presented 4 key scenarios for central Geelong for discussion, informed debate and further developmental considerations. The Workshop involved group discourse by the 79 participants that evaluated each of the scenarios. Invited participants were from a variety of local and state governmet stakeholders, Vision 2 project members and some returning professionals and students from the design workshop. Overseeing the workshop was invited key speaker Prof Richard Sommer. Results from the workshop activities were used to help progress each scenario from the numerous standpoints of the stakeholders who participated. Contributions from this event, along with other activities, helped to form a significant outcome, the Design Studio Report, for the Vision 2 project.
