Summary This study indicates that the local planning authorities as well as private-developers have continuously ignored cultural diversity in designing new suburbs of Melbourne such as Point Cook, Craigieburn and Pakenham however residents’ views on their neighbourhoods are overwhelmingly positive, and the thesis explores the reasons for this apparent conundrum.
