Summary A new approach based on the electrochemical techniques has been developed in this research to measure the cathodic disbondment of coatings as a frequently reported failure mode of oil and gas pipeline coatings. The technique has been employed to build up a deeper knowledge on the cathodic disbondment and to understand the environmental and physicochemical factors affecting the phenomenon.
