Summary This study towards an advanced monolithic precursor by controlling the morphologies and orientation of mesochannels templeted from hexagonal lyotropic liquid crystals for the fabrication of nanofiltration membranes. The membranes with a uniform pore size in the range of 1-5 nm and high surface area facilitate the water purification and desalination.
