Summary This thesis addressed the IST proposition that wanting and liking are two dissociable constructs of reward in human substance users. Findings from this thesis suggest some level of support for IST. Most significantly, this thesis may aid in the refinement of the theory and sheds some light on how the theory should be tested in human populations in the future.
