Summary  This study focussed on measuring and studying the concomitant effect of mechanical strain, cathodic protection and corrosive environment on pipeline coating degradation. The work involved development of a self-designed novel tensile testing setup capable of in situ electrochemical analysis. It provided insights in coating damages especially under low plastic strains.
