Summary The findings demonstrated the broadening of health promotion practice towards a systems perspective for addressing food insecurity. Food insecurity was considered one of many multifaceted issues in the food system that could not be addressed adequately in isolation. Systems thinking, guided by a set of sustainable food systems principles is warranted to guide practice and education.
