Summary This study examined Victoria Police memorialisation, commemoration and remembrance in relation to how police who have been killed in the line of duty are memorialised and how police remembrance practices have shaped police legitimacy. The findings suggested police remembrance practices enhance police legitimacy by communicating symbolic messages of sacrifice for the community.
