Summary The research´s objective was to generate a tool to assess the most suitable areas for buffer zones creation or restoration at a catchment scale that increases the overall system’s health. Spatial data regarding topography, hydrology and biodiversity was evaluated using a multi-criteria model to generate a useful tool for environmental planning.
