Summary This experimental study addressed existing issues in the pipeline industry. A novel electrochemical approach to the analysis of coating performance under the application of cathodic protection was developed. Outcomes provide a better understanding of the use of anticorrosion coatings for ensuring safe delivery of gas to the community.
