The passage of the Commonwealth Franchise Act 2002 marked the culmination of a long period of debate ,controversy and legislative Activity.It set the scene for the first national vote of white women in the 1903 general election, although some Aboriginal women who already had the vote in some colonies prior to federation were also entitled to vote
