Evaluation of the Marngoneet Correctional Centre

The evaluation is comprised of several components. First, it examined return to prison data to determine whether prisoners who had served sentences at Marngoneet Prison had a lower rate of recidivism than those who completed sentences at other prison locations. Second, an analysis of short-term outcomes for those prisoners who had attended offence-specific programs at Marngoneet was conducted. Finally, methodology was developed for conducting an economic or cost–benefit analysis of a offender treatment programs was provided as a means to assess the monetary value of the costs and benefits of delivering a program (in terms of the benefits to taxpayers and crime victims of future crimes avoided).
