Caption title. Title page is missing and substituted by a page written by Hector Orams (presumable owner of the book) dated Melbourne, 1938, in which he mentions the date of printing as 1847. Also included some biographical information: "Mrs. Kirkland nee Mary Hamilton, pseudonym: Mrs Thompson" and some details re: holders of the Squatting Lease No. 115 P.B., known as "Trawalla" and lease No. 273 P.B. called Mt. Emu. Attached in the back of the book a diagram showing the squatting leases around Trawalla,1838.Bound with: "A tale of Norfolk Island" (15, [1] pages : 2 illustrations). Tract no. 2 of 'Chambers's miscellany of useful and entertaining tracts', v. 1.With a newpaper cutting inside front cover from the Melbourne Press (Age or Argus), 1935, titled "Bush life in 1839" discussing "Life in the bush."
