However, he is chiefly remembered for his contributions to the study of Tasmanian botany, and was honorary Government Botanist of Tasmania from 1896-1932, the first lecturer in Botany at the University of Tasmania, founder of the Tasmanian Herbarium, a trustee and later director of the Tasmanian Museum and Botanical Gardens, and a foundation member of the Tasmanian Field Naturalists' Club.Original held in Deakin University Library Special Collection - Special Collection Rare Books.Contact Deakin University Library for access to high quality images.
