Globally dispersed teams (GDTs) or, as commonly termed, virtual teams are progressively taking the place of colocated conventional teams in a wide range of contemporary organizations. This trend has been attributed to the dynamism and globalization trend and the necessity of expanding the boundaries of businesses in order to tap into international markets. Organizations also intend to draw upon skilled and affordable talents in less-developed economies to enhance their competitiveness. In this context, GDTs would be an element of organizational structure for many enterprises in the near future.
