While most interventions into the Pacific Islands were peacekeeping missions, two interventions into Honiara, the capital of Solomon Islands and Nuku'alofa, the capital of Tonga, in 2006 reminded the ADF that 3rd Brigade still needed to project Australia's 'hard power' into the near region to quell political violence and civil unrest.
