The ability to ‘Listen Like a Dog’ (Lazarus 2016) is essential to holistic personalised care. Health professionals must reflect in and on their values, attitudes and beliefs as well as their practice to enhance their skills and insight. Self-knowledge, creativity and open mindedness are as important as academic and technical skills and knowledge—possibly more important. Inclusive collaboration is essential.
