Indian Cinema - Filmic Content, Social Interface and New Technologies: An Overview!

Given the changing global environment in the field of media, especially due to the new emerging disruptors, that has altered the film going experience, it is important to study the production, consumption, reception, distribution and publicity mode of Indian films. This article provides an overview of the eclectic mix of some of the key papers presented in the Indian Cinema and Alternate Networks Conference (2018), that include critical analysis of films in relation to society, economics and politics, interrogating various genres, music, song-dance sequences, action, choreography, camerawork, mise-en-scène and editing, to exploring representations of women, the downtrodden and marginalized and other alternate aspects.
