In 2010, the Chief of the Australian Army, Lieutenant General Ken Gillespie, in conjunction with his successor, Major General David Morrison, embarked on research and consultation that would become the Adaptive Army Initiative, reorganising command and control arrangements to align with new joint command and control structures and spawning Plan Beersheba, the standardisation of the Army's three manoeuvre brigades, in 2013.
