Tests of capability: operation Morris Dance 1987, operation Sailcloth 1988 and exercise Kangaroo 89

The first test of the deployability for 3rd Brigade occurred in May 1987. There was plenty of room for improvement. Lessons were rediscovered in 1988 for a standby contingency operation for Vanuatu and attempts were made to apply lessons for the major annual exercise Kangaroo 89, but there was still some way to go for the ADF to be able to deploy elements of 3rd Brigade on time in in good order.
