The international dimensions of Australian contract law

chapter
posted on 2025-10-02, 04:17 authored by Lisa Spagnolo
This chapter explores the international dimensions of Australian contract law. Its aim is to consider the influence upon Australian law of international contract law, or more specifically, the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (“CISG”), UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts (“UNIDROIT Principles”), and UN Electronic Communications Convention (“e-CC”). The influence of these instruments in Australia is compared with their influence in jurisdictions elsewhere. The chapter also considers how international contract law might continue to help develop Australian domestic contract law in future.
