Background This poem is part of a larger creative project that explores how poetry might provide valuable strategies to improve understanding of the lived experience of dementia. Contribution This poem explores the experience of being in a dementia ward from the perspective of a patient. Significance The poem investigates shifting understandings of human and object, precarious memory, the desire for connectedness, and intertextual allusions to past representations of dementia.
