A rapid prototyping system for real-time systems

A rapid prototyping system has been developed which can be used to build an executable model from the graphical specifications of a real-time system. The notation used for such specifications is the transformation schema [Ward and Mellor (1985)]. The rapid prototyping system allows the user to create a schema of a real-time system; compile an executable, object-oriented model of the schema; link the executable model and schema. Linking creates two interfaces also. One is between the executable model and schema. The second interface is between the schema and user. Linking produces an interactive and executable prototype of the schema. The creation of this executable prototype is completely automatic except for designing the transformation schema which is built manually using a graphical editor.
