Student attendance at lectures and workshops is decreasing and an assumption that online learning tools will fill the void and provide the learning model exists within academic circles and within the student population. As educators it is sometimes difficult to know how the students are learning, what resources they are using, and whether this new model is achieving good learning outcomes. This three-year study investigates undergraduate students use of online resources for a 1st year computer science unit in order to better understand what resources are being used and the frequency of their use.
