A Business Intelligence (BI) system provides users with actionable information to support decision making process. However, often business users still possess limited picture about the entire information manufacturing process underneath a particular piece of BI product. They are not able to trace the information manufacturing chain, let alone the information quality throughout the information manufacturing process. In response to this, an integrated information manufacturing framework for BI systems, so-called Business Intelligence Product Map (BIP-Map) has been proposed and developed in this research. The salient modelling and management techniques from Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN), Information Product Map (IP-Map) and Metadata Management are adapted to construct the framework that would help BI users in making timely and informed decision.
