Biochar to store carbon and water - engineering biochar designed for climate resilience in agriculture and mine site regeneration

Biochar is a porous structure that is produced from organic wastes. Waste feedstock and pyrolysis conditions can be designed to produce biochars that store carbon and water. Biochar composites can also be specifically designed and produced for many different types of applications for water treatment, contaminated soil restoration, for sustainable building materials, battery materials and more. This study purpose was to demonstrate biochars suitable for increasing long-term soil carbon, and to store and release of water that can boost climate resilience.
