After Action Review (AAR) is a crucial component in training and particularly in Simulation-based Training (SBT). The effectiveness of AAR is highly dependent on the ability to adequately track and measure the individuals performance during the training exercise scenario. Evaluation and analysis of the individuals captured performance gives importance to AAR and can support developing automated AAR tools where the relationships and connections between actions and events can be automatically determined. In this paper, we regard AAR in SBT with three goals in mind. Firstly, to shed some light on current AAR practices in different SBT application domains. Secondly, to present different AAR methodologies that are followed. Finally, to recommend on future methodologies that are worth adopting to enable better AAR practices in the future.
