Joint energy management in sugar industry is a challenging task for sustainable engineering practices. The proper use of bagasse may reduce environmental hazards and may also serve as a fuel in boilers for the generation of electricity. In this paper, a new joint demand side and response side energy management scheme is developed that will not only ensures un-interrupted supply of electricity but also minimizes the electrical energy cost and carbon emission cost as a multiobjective function. Electrical energy is being generated by using bagasse produced by crushing sugar cane and burning bagasse at boilers. Different sources are being introduced to effectively manage the load of sugar mill by biomass generation, utilities, minimizing the import of electricity while reducing the cost and pollution gas emission. In this article, developed problem is Binary Integer Linear Programming (BILP) type in which binary and integer values are given to the objectives and constraints. The proposed optimization problem is dealt with branch and bound (BB) algorithm. This newly developed joint energy management scheme is proven to be effective which minimizes the cost of electricity in sugar industry upto 18.65%.
