© Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018. This research aims to enhance the dissolution rate of prednisolone using sonoprecipitation method and to elucidate the mechanism of drug release. The sonoprecipitated prednisolone were tested in both liquid and solid dosage forms transformed by enhancement of prednisolone in stimulated colonic fluid (pH 7.4) was observed in the amorphous zein-coated prednisolone in solid dosage form, compared to its identical formulation in liquid dosage form as well as the pure crystalline prednisolone. Power X-ray Diffraction and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopies implied that the decrease in crystallinity level of sonoprecipitated nanoparticles could be primary mechanism for this improvement.
