The investigation of critical parameters and their
sensitivity towards the stability of power systems are important
as these information can be used to enhance the stability of
power systems by designing appropriate damping controllers. In
this paper, a single machine infinity bus (SMIB) system
connected a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind
energy conversion system (WECS) is considered to investigate
the critical parameters and their sensitivity against damping
factor. Linear analysis techniques such as eigenvalue analysis
and participation factors are used to conduct the analysis.
Finally some critical parameters which affect the stability of
WECSs are identified and then the sensitivity of these critical
parameters with respect to the damping of the system is
analyzed.
