To improve the photostability of wool fiber which is sensitive to photocatalytic activity of TiO 2 , core-shell structured TiO 2 @SiO 2 nanoparticles (NPs) were fabricated. Crystal types of TiO 2 were characterized by XRD. TEM images were taken to reveal the structures of TiO 2 before and after silica coating. UVVis spectra and phtocatalytic activity properties of TiO 2 before and after silica coating showed the coreshell structure endowed TiO 2 NPs with high transmittance, strong UV-shielding, and low photocatalysis properties, which are ideal for protecting wool against photoyellowing from sunlight.
