STEM Librarians as institutional teaching and learning partners in the third space paradigm: Enhancing my teaching capabilities through undertaking a Graduate Certificate of Higher Education (Learning and Teaching)

Teaching in higher education is a collaborative process that involves institutional partners with diverse expertise working together to collectively support students. As STEM Librarians working in higher education our work in supporting teaching and learning can be seen to operate within a third space paradigm. Our learners can be both staff or students. This presentation will explore my experiences operating in this space, and in undertaking a Graduate Certificate of Higher Education (Learning and Teaching) to enhance my teaching practice. I will delve into how I utilize reflective practice to grow and enhance my learning and teaching. I will touch on how reflective practice helped me to identify evidence and artifacts that demonstrate my teaching capability as a Librarian to gain a HEA Associate Fellowship. By the end of the presentation, I hope fellow STEM Librarians will feel inspired to engage in their own further studies or be encouraged to traverse their own fellowship journey.
