We describe a novel in-home monitoring system designed for elder-care application. The system consists of optimum number of wireless sensors that includes current, bed, flow sensors and senor for emergency situation. The sensors provide information that can be used for monitoring eldely by detecting abnormality pattern in their active daily life. The system will generate early warning message to care giver, when an unforeseen abnormal condition occurs. It will also, analyze the gathered data to determine resident behaviour. Instead of using many number of sensors, the importance of positioning the optimal number of intelligent sensors close to the source of a potential problem phenomenon, where the acquired data are likely to have the greatest benefit or impact has been discussed.
