Jute and other natural fiber composites are gaining importance in the composite industries because of the environmental concern and lowering the weight and cost of the reinforced composite products. Raw Bangla white grade B jute MAPP composites were made using preform and prepreg route. Fiber impregnation was studied by optical microscope and SEM. Tensile and three point bending tests were performed to evaluate composite properties. It was observed that with low volume fraction (<35%) of jute the composite efficiency is far below the theoretical value. For the preform route poor fiber matrix impregnation was observed although the compression cycle was the same. This can be explained by the longer flow distance by the polymer. Fiber discoloration with bad smell was observed at around 190˚C and consequently loss of property was evaluated. SEM observation of the fracture surface clearly revealed the microscopic change between the normal and a degraded fiber within the matrix.
