Throughput analysis for multiuser diversity of two users with SIC in NOMA systems

conference contribution
posted on 2018-01-01, 00:00 authored by Jinho Choi
Using the successive interference cancellation (SIC), the channel capacity can be achieved without joint decoding when multiple users transmit signals simultaneously in nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA). With the SIC, multiuser diversity (MD) can be extended to choose multiple users whose signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) are high. In this paper, we derive the throughput for this generalized multiuser diversity (GMD) of two users of the highest SNRs and discuss the performance gain over the conventional MD for delay limited transmission when no power control is employed.
