To infinity and beyond: e-learning in the 21st century
conference contribution
posted on 2017-08-11, 00:00 authored by A Y T Tan, E Chew, David MellorDavid Mellor© 2016 IEEE. With learning moving beyond time and space, beyond paper and pencil, beyond chalkboard and whiteboard; and into virtual learning space-it is imperative for educators to come together and be on the same page as to what e-Learning is all about. As new ways of learning and learners' need in the 21stcentury continues to grow and evolve, the perception and understanding of e-Learning as merely uploading the learning materials online and having students to download them as well as retaining the conventional ways of learning and teaching; may no longer be sufficient. This paper addresses the current issue on hand as to how educators in the Malaysian institutions of higher learning (IHL) are currently adopting the use of technology in their learning and teaching process. Likewise, some suggestions on how they could be an agent of change when it comes to rethinking and redesigning of learning technologies, typically in technology enhanced assessment and feedback are also offered.
